Pumpkin & Melon Candles

There are dozens of electric and battery operated lights and "simulated" candles available to light your Jack-O-Lanterns, but let's face it, nothing is better than a real flame. Not only do real candles give you the perfect amount of light (one candle power) and color, but using a real flame to light your pumpkins is traditional, and still the most cost effective way. But candles have two main flaws:

  1. They easily blow out in a breeze. In many locations, the weather conditions on October 31 are less than ideal, and many folks have trouble keeping their Jack-O-Lanterns lit.
  2. Wax candles easily snuff themselves out.
The solution is Vegetable Oil Candles!

The vegetable oil supplies fuel to your flame for the entire evening, without snuffing out.

It even automatically levels itself!

The glass not only holds the fuel, but provides a wind break, to keep the flame from blowing out. Can be used over and over again. (Also comes with one replacement wick.)

You can even start off with a small layer of water with food coloring at the bottom of the glass, and float a layer of vegetable oil on top, for a really cool colored effect!

Instructions:
  1. Fill a clear drinking glass or mug halfway with vegetable oil.
  2. Insert a waxed cotton wick in the float.
  3. Lower the float onto to vegetable oil. Allow oil to skim over the float through the grooves.
  4. Once the oil reaches the wick, light!
